One week after the election

I'm not sure yet if I can wrap my head around this last week.  On one hand I want to support those protesters, on the other I want to make them realize that they need to tone it down and get to work fixing stuff instead of tearing stuff down.   Protesting doesn't accomplish what it used to in the 1960's.  Now everything is done on the down low and you have to be a lot smarter than your foe.  If the election was won by social media, then social media is how you have to take control.   The media taught us that during the campaign.  You cannot get your news from the media or you are following an agenda that is not yours.  You have disengaged your brain and allowed someone else to control your thinking.  I don't care which side of the issue your news comes from, you need to examine the facts and not the facts as they were presented to you by someone else.  PROPAGANDA is the name of today's politics.

Think about this for a minute.  As a police officer, you are surrounded every day by the people who are committing crimes and using guns and spitting on you and calling you a racist pig. They are getting shot just sitting in their cars, while doing paperwork.   Now put yourself in the police officer's shoes. Now imagine yourself as a black officer assigned to a Trump rally where supporters are spewing hate and tell me if you can keep your own emotions in check.  Imagine doing that for eight hours a day, five days a week.  Which side of the issues would you be?  We need to stop feeding the hate.  We need to work silently to win over those folks so that they can see a brighter future.  Without hope all society is lost.

I get angry watching TV and the spew that is coming from all sides.  So next time you treat another human being with disrespect, ask yourself how that person is going to walk away from your encounter.  What opinion are they going to have of you and your point of view.
