No excuses.

With this Corona Virus going around I'm stuck at home, working from home, taking extra care not to come in contact with anyone because my spouse has an underlying health condition.  So what to do so I don't go stir crazy? What to do so I feel as if I haven't wasted my precious time.?  It is precious you know.   If you get the virus and get sick, you will not be able to do much other than sleep, blow your nose, eat chicken soup, and feel awful until it passes.  Hopefully, you don't get so sick that you need medical intervention.  Because then your time is even more precious.

There are things that need being done.  Lord knows I've put off projects, some for decades.   My spouse is not helping.  He just wants to sit around and watch TV.  So I guess I'm on my own.  So, what to do?  I've put off writing this blog for a really long time.  I keep saying I'm going to do more writing, so here is where I will start.

I started thinking about what Patriotism is and what it isn't.
What it isn't is ranting and raving on social media about a President and what you may or may not like or the job he is doing.  No one was prepared for this and whether you agree with what our political system is doing or not doing, get off your butt and start doing!   You have no right to complain until you, yourself have your own house in order.  So, let's get to work.

Patriotism isn't going shopping and ranting and raving at the people who are trying to keep you safe and 6 feet apart at the checkout.  They don't want to be around you anymore than you want to be around sick people.  They have family at home that depend on them to get home without coming in contact with some idiot that doesn't know what to do with themselves so they go out to Wal-Mart.  They get paid lousy wages, and need to work so they can afford to buy the groceries they need to feed their families.  They don't work at Wal-Mart because it's a career choice.  So give them a break and stop shopping because you are bored.  If you have to shop, then shop online.  That way they don't have to worry about whether your sneeze means their lives are in danger or whether you washed your hands after handling all the produce in the produce section.

Ok so ranting at crazy people isn't very patriotic either.  So let's try to be a bit more positive.  And lets' try and get some things accomplished.

Patriotism....what is it?
It's doing those things that your country and your community need doing without having to ask you to do them.  Going above and beyond.  I started a list but thought I should leave that for the comment section.  So leave a comment if you feel you must, but make your comments about what you are doing not what someone else is not.  Or what people can do to help, that won't cost them anything but they can do but they may not have thought about.  Yes, I can censor anything I don't like.  It's my blog and I'll do what I want.  You don't have to like what I say and you don't have to read it either.  I'm not directing any comments at anyone, so feel free to feel whatever feelings you have, but know they are not my concern.  You are always welcome to write your own blog.

Comments like "Mow the lawn or cleanup the yard of a nurse or doctor who is too busy saving people's lives" or "calling on a neighbor, who has no family just to talk and make them feel as if they are not alone" or "watching and protecting my neighbor's property because they can't get home or can't get to it due to being stuck somewhere else because of the virus." are all acceptable.  You get the idea.

I'm not a very motivated person.  I usually need an emergency to get my butt moving.  I wish I had the energy and excitement I had 30 years ago.  Wishing doesn't accomplish anything does it.  Ok, so no excuses.

There is nobody here to motivate me, so I'd better figure out how to do this on my own.  A little about me, if you are reading this.  I'm a breath away from retirement.  I keep asking myself why I haven't retired yet, and every time I think about it, something crazy happens....like this corona virus thing.  Like my spouse having a heart attack and making me grateful that I have a job with health insurance.   There's always more time than money, or more money than time.  How many times in your life have you noticed that!  So, I guess we are in the More Time than Money phase.  So what to do?

Stay Tuned.
