Word 2007 - New User

I've just started using Office 2007. I'm not a computer genius, but I'm not totally illiterate either. I'm going to use my blog to record some of the things I learn so that I can remember them and I can share them with others. I know that there are a million and one places to look this stuff up. But, I've learned that the best way for me to remember things is to write them down.

So here is the first:

To change how often Word saves your document:
Click on the little round icon called the OFFICE icon in the upper left corner
Select WORD OPTIONS which is a button on the bottom of the pop up box. I almost missed it
Click on SAVE and another box pops up.
Check the box that says "Save Auto-Recover information every:" and modify it to the number of minutes you feel most comfortable with.

Usually every 3 minutes works better than every 10 minutes for me. I can do a lot of damage to a document in 3 minutes, so you can image how much I can do in 10 mintues. While you are familiar with this option, you might also want to check to see where the recovery document is going so if you need to get to it, you know where to look. You closed the Pop ups already? Here is a re-cap

OFFICE > WORD OPTIONS > SAVE
Just below the location where you changed the time for auto recover, is where the document is being saved. If you can't remember, don't worry, you can always come back and look.

Looks like I had better get familiar with the OFFICE icon...Til next tip!
